Hex is set at the British boarding school of Medenham Hall - a historic castle with a dark past. Cassie Hughes is a quiet, intelligent student who tries a little too hard to be popular...until one day she discovers she's a witch, around the same time that her best friend, Thelma dies, who then returns from the dead as a ghost.

At the beginning of season two, Cassie is killed and into the picture comes Ella Dee, a mysterious and dark character who befriends Thelma and the two must work together to try and defeat Azazeal.
